The Finger Lakes Region is a world all in it's own that offers unspoiled natural surroundings from our lakes & rivers to our
forests & parks, and spans over 9,000 square miles. The Finger Lakes has
become a place of escape to over 20 million vacationers each year. It's a
vacation destination where beauty abounds and life is relaxed. Known for it's
crisp clean lakes including Keuka, Canandaigua, Seneca, Cayuga, Honeoye, Waneta
and Lamoka. The area was created centuries ago by ancient glaciers that melted
and left long deep blue waters nestled in valleys of rolling hills, later
dotted with vineyards and farmlands. Large enough to be home to eleven of these
celebrated lakes and house several large cities, yet small enough to have that
small-town appeal and old-time Main Streets across the entire region. The
Finger Lakes is a perfect place to choose relaxing vacation home rentals . There are many activities to choose from and we'd
like to offer you just a few suggestions to enjoy ALL seasons:
Bicycling-
The Finger Lakes offers an endless array of heavenly scenery most enjoyable by
getting out and really soaking up nature. Variety ranges from quiet country
roads alongside the farmlands and quaint waterside beauty along our unique
lakes, to our historic downtowns filled with friendly natives and repeat
visitors enjoying the relaxed comfort our region offers to all. We also have
trails alongside canals & through the woods. There is so much here to bike
in The Finger Lakes that you'd never see all we have to offer in just 1
vacation...let alone 10 more. Honest! And, we'll let you in on something most
visitors don't know about - one of our favorite spots is Keuka Lake's Bluff
where the views are unheard of and you can visit the sacred & historic
Garrett Chapel.
Bike rentals are available at Carey's Rental Outlet in Penn Yan 315-536-4400
Boating-
Stop in at one of our local marinas and rent a motorboat or pontoon boat for
the day or better yet...the whole week! Our waters are calm and inviting. You'll
enjoy the clear water and warm breeze as you sightsee, fish, go tubing or just
relax. Of course, you can always bring your own boat and dock it at your
cottage rental on Keuka Lake or any of our beautiful lakes!
For those who want a quieter week, some of the homes offer non-motorized watercraft for you your private use, or you can rent one at www.reaganskayak.com and they will deliver it to your vacation rental for you.
Fishing-
Drop your line off one of our piers, enjoy a private charter or fish off the
dock at your cottage to enjoy some of the best sport fishing around. The Finger
Lakes Region welcomes numbers of experienced and just-for-sport fishers
to our waters all year round. Some of our lakes freeze up in winter and
fisherman bunk up in their shanties and fish through holes drilled through the
ice. You can even snowmobile across the lake!
Get
a Massage-
We have several New York State Licensed Massage Therapists in our area that
would love to get their hands on you! Come to relax and be pampered by our
natives. If you've never had a massage from a professional, we highly recommend
trying it while on your vacation in The Finger Lakes. You won't forget it!
Get
Married-
Yes, The Finger Lakes Region is a very popular and romantic place where many
couples exchange their vows. Spend your honeymoon here, or extend your stay
after you attend someone else's nuptials. There are so many options for
weddings in the Finger Lakes. What a great place to return to for anniversary
celebrations!
Hiking-
Many areas of The Finger Lakes region offer beautiful scenery and surroundings
for hikers of all ages. Enjoy the Outlet Trail (a 7-mile linear park along a
continuously flowing waterway that connects Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake) or hike
our trails at many of our local state parks. Late September and most of October
is a wonderful time to enjoy this sport. As summer turns to fall and the days
get shorter, our leaves create a magnificent portrait of reds, oranges and
yellows for miles and miles. Your eyes will fall in love.
Horseback Riding-
Enjoy a relaxing guided ride on horseback with views of the lake and through
the hills. Many of our roads allow for this sport.
Sightseeing-
You can do this in almost any way...take a Sunday afternoon drive, a bike ride,
by boat, and even by plane to take in a view of the rolling hills &
countryside.
Take
a Plane Ride-
Stop at the airport in Penn Yan for a guided flight by a local pilot. Looking
down in a plane over this area is spectacular!! You'll see what looks like
patchwork made by the various types of crops planted by farmers, plotted around
blue crisp waters. Visit the airport on the morning of July 4th for the "Penn
Yan Flying Clubs' Annual Fly In Breakfast." It's a fun filled morning where you
can view many old and new airplanes and enjoy a hearty buffet-style breakfast served
to you by the Flying Club Members themselves.

on the pier.
Scuba
Diving-
Take a dive in our lakes with a professional scuba instructor. Explore marine
life among the clean and clear waters.
Shop-
For a unique shopping experience walk several of our historic downtown
districts. They are registered Historic Districts which require businesses to
keep the old time charm, such as certain types of signs and regulations as to
types of stores permitted. We work hard to preserve the history set-forth by
our forefathers. And, don't be afraid to strike up a conversation with one of
the locals...they'd be glad to tell you about the area & recommend some "must
sees." Don't forget to pick up a souvenir to always remind you of your special
Finger Lakes vacation.
Tennis-
Bring your racquet and court shoes, as we have several tennis courts open to
the public.
Wineries
and Winery Tours-
Are in abundance!!! The Finger Lakes Wine Country Region is home to the largest
wine grape growing counties outside of California. We have 70+ wineries that
are all unique. Some offer guided tours of the facilities and teach visitors
about the special process used to develop their own vintages. Winery routes
have been developed around 7 of the lakes and named after the lakes; such as
the Keuka Lake Wine Trail and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. They offer special events where you can tour and taste
at each of the wineries around the lake. Several have restaurants and delis.
Whichever type of wine your prefer you're bound to find a new favorite!
